My new found love for Arrowtown Hair Company - Kirsty

I’m here to talk about my new found love for Arrowtown Hair Company and my experience in joining the AH family.

I landed in Queenstown on the 14th February.

I have been in the hairdressing industry for 15 years.

The great thing I have found with being a hair stylist is the freedom it has given me to merge my love for my work and the love I have for travel together.

When arriving in Queenstown I was on the hunt for inspiration and a new light in life in regards to the way I lived everyday life.

I had a handful of interviews all OK but nothing grabbing me or inspiring me.

That was until I turned up in Arrowtown and met Amelia!

I joined the AH team in the next following weeks.

Instantly I noticed the beauty in this salon was not just the physical appearance as that in itself is adorable.

It was the natural awareness the whole team had to support the planet’s climate.

From the set up of the salon with its pretty plants purifying the air.

The Oway products we use for our clients. An 100% sustainable plant based product grown and manufactured from the land of Italy. Even the materials in which the product is stored are recyclable for our clientele. Another ecoconscious effort I find inspiring.

I am even loving using the Paper Not Foil brand for colouring services.

I mean how alien does it feel to a hair stylist to not have foil laying around?

I feel as if my eyes have been opened to see what a wasted material foil is to have in a salon.

The Paper Not Foil brand has been an amazing new experience to play with in the salon. I completely admire this new material bought to salons and I hope every hairdresser gets the chance to experiment with this.

Even right down to our salon cleanliness.

Making our own cleaning products to disinfect the salon without polluting the air with that bleachy smell that more often than not I have had in previous salons.

It just goes to show as a team we are 100% in what we work for. It feels great to work in a salon that has such high values for the world we live in and the people whose hair we do.

When meeting the new clients I found very quickly that love what we stand for and I believe as a team we are educating our clients and way more than how to style their hair.

I love to share with the clients the sustainability of what we are doing for their hair and wellbeing, something that we can easily educate to be carried on in every day being.
